Welcome students and parents‼! I am looking forward to working with you this year. I think we will have a very fun and productive time in my classes this school year. I have some exciting plans for our classes that I anticipate will be met with a great deal of approval. Details will be sent home as needed.
I want my students to know that my door is always open to them. If there is ever anything you do not understand, or you just need a little extra help, do NOT hesitate to contact me. Feel free to contact me by phone if needed. I am here to TEACH you, not give you bad grades. I want all my students to succeed!
This invitation is open to “my” parents, also. Rest assured that I have your child’s best interest at heart. If there is anything that you feel we need to discuss, please call me and we can schedule a time to talk. I really want parents to be involved in their child’s education. Together, we can make this an interesting and exciting year.
Please note that the most important rule in my classroom is…
Treat Others With Respect‼

A few cool websites you can (should) visit
1.) http://www.readwritethink.org/materials/crossword/
Read*Write*Think Crossword Puzzles
This interactive website allows students and parents to do online crossword puzzles. It also allows the user to create his or her own crossword puzzles, which can then be printed. Students: practice with this site. You will be creating cross word puzzles in upcoming lessons. Parents: you can use this site for fun or to aid your child in his or her studies. Remember, your child will learn faster and easier if you are involved!
2.) http://interactives.mped.org/view_interactive.aspx?id=110&title=
Read*Write*Think Printing Press
This is a wonderful site which will help students to design a printable newspaper, brochure, flyer or booklet. This site will be used in class to help students create a class newspaper. Each class will create a monthly paper detailing the news of their peers. These newspaper articles can be about classroom activities, as well as sports and personal news. Each class will then print their newspaper. I will also post the monthly newspapers on our class website. I feel that this will be a fun and entertaining venture! I hope you all enjoy it.
3.) http://www.readwritethink.org/beyondtheclassroom/summer/grades6_8/MagneticPoetry/
Read*Write*Think Magnetic Poetry Set
This site allows students to practice using different parts of speech to play a fill-in-the-blank-story game. They then make their own list of nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, exclamations, and conjunctions that they turn into a personal magnetic poetry set. These activities encourage students to play with language while making sure that they know the difference between a noun and a verb or an adjective and an adverb.
